However, it is possible he was talking about idol worship. Just a wild guess... Yes they have in a general sense. It was Carl Sagan who would do his rundown of the universe from big bang to stars to heavy elements to earth to bacteria.... and say "These are a few things that hydrogen atoms do given billions and billions of years". It is the exact same kind of statement. It is saying that man comes from simpler life forms and matter.
