New MND-CS Commanding General Holds First Press Conference

CAMP BABYLON, Iraq -
On Jan. 25 the first press conference of the new Commanding General of the Multinational Division-Central South (MND-CS), Major General Mieczyslaw Bienek, took place at the Headquarters of MND-CS in Camp Babylon, Iraq.

MG Bienek was accompanied by the following: Political Advisor Ambassador Ryszard Krystosik, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Col. Javier Cabeza, Deputy Commander of 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT), Col. Asarta, Chief of Staff of 1st BCT, Col. Knap and Military Assistant, Col. Krecikij.

The Commanding General's goal for this conference was to introduce himself as well as to introduce key division personnel. MG Bieniek delivered the opening statement in which he spoke about the division's mission, his intent and the end state for MND-CS activities within the area of responsibilities.

More than 40 media representatives took part in the press conference, including international, local and Polish journalists.

Journalists posed many questions, mainly concerning the division's plans for providing further assistance to the Iraqis in rebuilding their country's infrastructure and providing medical aid. Some of the reporters' questions were connected with recent events and plans for the future.

HA! Raising the profile of the coalition partners. This means that things are going well. It's time to let the world know just how many people are with us in Iraq. Smart move. The Poles have a lot to be proud of this will be very good for them.
