Crowe doesn't buy into the Hollyweird scene. One gets "punished" as a result.

Bathroom humor, tourettes outbursts and the like. Appealing to today's audience (regretably).

Carson is very busy trying to make points with the "celebrities". The only person who dares say anything negative is Joan Rivers, like her or not.

And kudos to Diane for not going under the knife. She actually has wrinkles!

HA!!!

I just realized something: Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ comes out on Ash Wednesday, just FOUR DAYS before the big Oscar hooha party!

That is FRIGGIN' BRILLIANT!!! At that moment, if early word is any indication, then the ONLY movie of ANY consequence on the public consciousness at that moment is going to be the most openly, unapologetically Christian film ever made, and the most devastating motion picture released since Schindler's List. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see every nominee and winner asked, on-camera, their opinion of the "controversial" movie that just blew away per-screen box office history.

HOOT! I'm going to be grinning about this for WEEKS!

I also think it's brilliant that the next movie Gibson stars in will be the final installment of the Mad Max trilogy, Fury Road. "Not only am I an unflinching arch-Christian and brilliant director to boot, I'm also more of a terrifying bad-ass then the rest of you pukes put together."

True. But Depp played a more gay drunk to me. He was like a cross between the guys from Queer Eye and Keith Richards.

Depp's anti-American Eurotrash, but I have to give him his due: He nailed that role to the point of deserving the nomination. I remarked at the time that it was a shame he'd never get nominated for a silly popcorn summer kids flick. Glad I was wrong. Whatever Jack Sparrow was, he wasn't Johnny Depp - can't say the same for Crowe or Cruise in their roles. I really quite liked Pirates of the Carribean (odd note - same acronym as "Passion of the Christ") and hope they make a sequel. If I were writing it, I'd have Sparrow and crew battling against seventeenth-century slavers. It'd work.

All that aside, it's going to be Penn.

Total of 30 nominations for the trilogy, which is the most for any movie series ever.

I was lucky last year and missed the Oscars. This year will be different, it will be intentional. I will not sit in front of a television set and watch America bashers drip their venom while picking up an award. I can read about which film won what award on the net without commercials and commentary.
