That's Switzerland. China is .cn. The IP address in the source is Korean. Either way, it's all trouble.

hahahahaha! I think it is sweet irony that the only people succeptable in this mail are people who still (for whatever reasons) browse the net with internet explorer because of a known defect in the browser that microsoft has yet to fix. Funny!!!

hahahahaha...Funny!!!

Only twisted people get a thrill from hacker attacks.

For all those lurkers out there... As you can see from the above, "golden eagle" is somewhat humor impaired, and is incapable of seeing the irony of the origional article in question.

Those of you who do not technology threads may not be aware of the following that I typed up last night and will be reposting until I get tired of doing so...

FreeRepublic is a conservative news and commentary forum that covers many topics every single hour of the day. If it's topical, and in the news, you'll find it here. One of the things I've noticed is, that if you look at the posting history of individual users, you'll notice that many tend to congregate around several different subjects. Sure there are always a few Johnny-one-notes, but even the ones who seem to post mostly about abortion because the subject is of intense importance to them, will occasionally find topics that diverge from this interest to comment upon.

Below, you will find the posting history of one FreeRepublic user distilled into an easily readable bulleted list. It begins at 11/18/2003, and ends today (1/26/2004). If you look closely, you will see a common thread that suffuses every single post - the position of the professional microsoft astroturfer. Never deviating from this theme, I give you golden Eagle

There you have it, 34 threads, and about 250 separate post, never deviating from the official microsoft propaganda sheets in even a single post for over 2 months. Astroturfing at it's finest.

NEW FLORIDA WOES FOR BOIES

?????????

I agree with him. It's a little crude to take delight in the twisted pranks and damage of crackers (I will NOT denigrate the name of good people out to find out information known as Hackers by including the scumbots who did this e-mail in their ranks.)

NEW FLORIDA WOES FOR BOIES

?????????

I'd have to go look, but I think this was included in the list because Boies is the lead counsel for SCO. I can't recall exactly, but I believe a disparaging comment about linux (suprise) was made by GE on the thread. I didn't look at the thread itself to see what the rest of the comments by other posters were about.

For a second, I thought I'd found a thread he'd posted to that was not a vehicle for microsoft astroturfing, but that was not the case.

Regarding the root subject of this thread... I guess irony is in the eye of the beholder. I've recieved several of these types of scam emails in my default spam mbox. This is the first I'd seen that refers back to microsoft via the defect in IE.

I have also seen a great page someone made that will fake an IE user into thinking he's on a page at microsoft for upgrading thier browser to Mozilla. That was truely inspired irony.

Must be a Microsoft employee. Us normal Windows users are no where near that fanatical. For that level of religion-like fanaticism, one must look for a Linux user.

More lies and misinformation from you I see concerning my posting history. Why don't you do us all a favor and actually link to those posts so everyone can see I not only support Microsoft, but all US software companies including competitors of Microsoft, such Apple and Sun, from the onslaught of the foreign born Linux?

I don't know. Some of us linux users have experience with a lot of other different operating systems. In my case - RTE, MPE, MPEix, Ultrix, JES2, MVS, VMS, HP-UX, AIX, VOS, OS2, DOS, Various incarnations of windoze, FTX and probably a couple of others that do not immediately come to mind. My personal preference for which is best depends upon the task at hand. For the kind of thing that PCs are normally used for, IMO, Linux, and OSX are the best choice for stability, reliability and security. If your primary use of your PC is as a large gaming console, you might be better off with windows, because game support is better.

No lies or misinformation here. All I did is comb through three or four pages of your posting history and collated the threads and the number of your replies to each thread for all to see. You do nothing but shill for microsoft. Most other people I find on free republic have more than a single interest. With all of the stuff going on in America and the rest of the world, this is the only thing that can motivate you to post? Amazing.

No I've made it clear on those posts as well as directly to you now, I support any US software company over foreign born freeware.

That would include competitors of Microsoft such as Apple, any version of Unix, Oracle vs. foreign freeware, CA vs. foreign freeware, Symantec vs. foreign freeware, you name it.

So you can repeat your statement if you like but I am living proof right now telling you in person my position and inviting you to go verify my previous posts yourself.

But you probably won't, most Linux people never are interested in the facts, and this is simply further proof. Which is another reason I'm opposed to you people, you're simply not trustworthy and with an agenda of pushing this dangerous software on us all.

You posted earler asking for my response to your lame FUD about red flag linux. Well, I responded. Care to respond to any of that, or would you prefer to keep pretedning that you aren't here on a astroturfing FUD campaign? Anyone who looks at your posting history can make their own decisions about your motivations for posting so single-mindedly opposing open source software. That, on a site powered pretty much exclusively on open source software.

It must really bother you that freerepublic is so successful while using none of the proprietary crap you'd like to force us to live with.
