Everyone has to choose if they want to change it from the inside or the outside. If you care about your country you have to try and change it from the inside because standing in the corner by yourself doesn't provide much opportunity to make a change in the system.
For instance I left the Navy. There were a lot of things good about the Navy and a lot that were wrong. I didn't care enough about the Navy to want to stay in and change it from the inside. My country, that's a different story.
I have to work from inside the system. Even the 60s commies learned you have to work from the inside to make change.

I have tried from the inside since Bush 41 proposed the first assault weapons ban, it is not working to well. Recently I came to the conclusion that if I was tired of politics as usual (I AM!!!), then why should I vote for the usual politicians? It is time to follow my conscience and see what happens.
