Franken - who seemed in a state of shock and out of breath after the incident - was helped back to his feet by several people who watched the tussle. Police arrived soon after.

"I got down low and took his legs out," said Franken afterwards.

Franken said he's not backing Dean but merely wanted to protect the right of people to speak freely.

And why is he not in jail on assault and battery charges ?

I smell a setup. Franken wanted some pub for his pathetic little radio show and bought a sandwich for some unemployed ex-WWE wrestler to be his comic foil.

(Of course the local DA could always file charges for disorderly conduct. But then again, pigs fly in my world).
