Private medical records aside, I don't see how Rush can squirm out of these charges.Your dog may like you, but if you keep posting like that (new born date Dec. 19, 2003), no one around here will.

I don't understand any of you. Rush didn't need 4 docs to give him pain meds. The SOP in cases as these is to send the individual to a pain clinic where a specialized doc, ususally a neurologist, will handle the situation and be in charge of the pain treatment. And the go between to the DEA should the need arise. A pain clinic treats pain in a professional manner. Most docs will suggest this to their troublesome patients who need that extra treatment.

Have you ever been personally sent to a "pain management clinic"? I have heard many stories from people who have been to one that feel these clinics are all about making people learn to live with a much higher amount of pain than they can tolerate and they are not about making people comfortable.

What does the 42 USC 1983 cover ..?? Looks like noone answered your question.
section 1983 covers deprivation of civil rights by a government actor--a government employee or agency acting in their capacity as such. Used to get at city, county, and state employees and agencies that deprive one of his or her rights.

Private medical records aside, I don't see how Rush can squirm out of these charges. I'm sure others have told you this but just in case they haven't you need to know that there are no charges. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. The only "charges" are rumors being spread in the media.
To: NYCVirago
And particularly a celebrity. Neither Darryl Strawberry nor Robert Downey Jr., to name two of the most egregious offenders, did any jail time until they had been caught several times; plus, they were on cocaine and heroin! And as for painkillers, Matthew Perry went through rehab twice for that, and never faced any charges. Don't forget Brett Favre. He admitted trying to get his wife to get a prescription from the dentist so he could support his habit.

Bump in support of Rush!!!!!! It appears there's some unethical activity on the part of the SA which is something I and many others have been saying all along.

What has this rich man done for you?Entertained me for years without charging me one red cent for it? Is he supposed to do something else for me? I must be out of the loop on that one.
I will bet you that years ago he wanted to prosecute senior citizens who went to Mexico for cheaper prescription meds! I should research that one.
I will bet you come up empty.

Dog's just envious of others wealth, funny how it took him numerous posts to resort to playing the "rich" card.

In the case of Rush, it seems he went under the table and simply acquired the drugs in that magical way that only rich people demand. When he ran out of doctors, he turned to his house servant. You see, folks, there is a point where "prescription drugs" become "illegal narcotics." I think Rush crossed that point. The ONLY evidence of this allegation is by the wife of a convicted drug dealer, who may have been blackmailing Limbaugh, that was paid for ($250K) by the National Enquirer.
This source of testimony should be given very little weight until it can be collaborated by another (more reliable) source. I doubt that it will be though.

"I don't see how Rush can squirm out of these charges."
Ummm...unless I missed something here, there have been NO CHARGES filed against Rush? So what exactly does he, a presumed innocent man, have to squirm out from under? The SAO's trying to prosecute this in the media with these leaks in the hopes of building a public "outcry" for a trial. There's nothing there for them to get Rush with and they know it. IF they try Limbaugh on whatever flimsy evidence they have, they'd have to then go after every retiree in the state!
So again sir, what exactly does Rush have to squirm out from under if no charges have been filed? Don't you think it's logical to assume that if the SAO actually HAD a case they'd have filed by now?

"You guys are letting Rush off easy"
Rush sure hasnt been let off easy. Quite the contrary. Its not an emotional issue and should be based solely on the law. You are ready to prosecute this man without facts just propaganda being fed to you by the ones who want to ruin him any way they can. Please consider your sources.
Rush hasnt been charged. They have been looking for something to charge him with since day one (almost five months ago) and have not been able to do so. There is nothing that indicates he got these drugs illegally, as you stated, or he would have certainly been charged by these people by now. Floridas prosecutors have been spending an unprecedented amount of time trying to charge him with anything. Looking and fishing. This is a witch hunt.
Do you still believe he was money laundering? A trumped up charge, among many.. Absurd! He was being blackmailed. Are the blackmailers being charged? Hmm, wonder why I havent heard about that. Oh, thats right, they got immunity. Hmm, wonder why.
It's Innocent until proven guilty in our Free America. Not the other way around. Its a very sad day when this is how the Justice System of America can precede. This is the main point. One should be outraged by the way Floridas justice system are behaving. They are doing everything by their own rules to create a case to take after someone because they dont like what he stands for. Its a scary precedence being set..

If it was me, I see myself on local news wearing an orange jumpsuit in a perp walk, chained to real hardcore criminals, climbing out of a Paddy wagon on the way to court to answer to my "illegal possession of prescription medication" charge. You should seek medical help immediately. You are experiencing flash backs to earlier time in your life...

It is easy to squirm out of them, as you put it, if all his pain meds came from one Doctor group. Or if he listed the meds he was taking on the forms with the different Doctors.

In all fairness to MDLM, the Enquirer story had enough truth in it for Rush to put himself in rehab for 6 weeks or so.
