WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry said on Sunday the Bush administration, including Vice President Dick Cheney, should be "held accountable" for claims Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
Kerry, riding a tide of support since a surprising win Monday in the first of the U.S. presidential nominating contests, said U.S. lawmakers should hold hearings on Capitol Hill.

Yes, David Frum's analogy and take on the situation was spot on. Unfortunately, most of the liberals I've tried to talk to have an amazing ability to shut off all rational thought.

When you read any of the garbage, certain to come, about how Bush misled America regarding the WMDs, remember the Rockefeller Memo, and how the Democrats have intended on using this, and the entire intelligence investigation, for political advantage... regardless of the facts. They deserve to be turned out of office, and relegated to the ash heap of history.

(Although I still say removing Saddam was right and he had every intention to produce WMD's given the chance if he didn't already have them well hidden.) The line now is that they didn't actually have WMDs (anymore), but that the scientists were bamboozling Hussein. So...documents going down approving various programs, funds being assigned and withdrawn, reports going back up - coupled with absolute confirmation of a previous not only program, but stockpile and use, and a resistance to disclosing information on the program to duly authorized inspectors. What kinda nut would act as though there weren't WMDs?

Saddam [...] had every intention to produce WMD's given the chance if he didn't already have them well hidden. All of the Anthrax cited could fit in a single 10'by 12' room.
All of the chemical weapons Powell cited could have been moved to any point in Iraq with roads from any other point with roads in two months out of the six months we gave him while messing around with the U.N. by two guys in a cargo van, in only one trip a day.

U.S. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, campaigning in Nashua, New Hampshire, called for an independent probe. "We have a responsibility to have an independent commission that gets to the bottom of this," Edwards told reporters. Fine. Let's start with Frank Church and work our way forward.
