To: Donna Lee Nardo
A trigger, called a pit, is used to set of a hydrogen bomb. The pit itself weighs about 12 pounds and about the size of a grapefuit. It is seald and shielded with about a 3/8 inch of lead, they last 40-60 years and are actualy a small atomic bomb themselves.

Thanks for info on a trigger, eastforker. I will include that in my search tomorrow. Rock nukes, back packs, suitcases, war heads, triggers... The other day, I searched the net for photos of detonation wires and blasting caps and some other good stuff that I keep hearing about but needed to know what they looked like. Why do I want to know this stuff? I don't know...insatiable curiosity and a need to know even if there is no profit for me, I guess.
