I believe NEST (and other related agencies) have RAD detectors.

Nukes leave some kind of signature trail as they are moved around (unless encased in lead, which makes them VERY heavy and nearly unmovable) - I believe they are Gamma rays in nature.

Heck, I even have my own personal "RAD detector" (NukAlert) on my keychain right now. Handy little contraption.

So, dirty bomb or nuke goes off..and I know one way or the other if the radiation has hit my area, and how much we are being exposed to. Sure would rather know than not, so we can decide to evacuate or stay put.

My point exactly.

I think that the public is depending too much on the gov't to insure their security. Our country, our borders, our laws, and our immigration policy are all so porous, it's impossible to plug every hole.

I personally think that if we had coverts in place like our operative forces do, we would have the same information the gov't does. That's the only difference between HSA and us.

Where does the gov't get their information? I'm willing to bet it's the same place we do.

Saw a documentary way back sum of it was a team of scientists whose job is to track any radiation leaks from "whatever". That was there squad like a radiation first response they followed them around on the job to quite boring calls possilbe leaks from normal usage in our envrirment. ie Hospitals ect.

Made me feel quite comfortable knowing a radiation squad exists however boring their day to day calls/work is.

They work amongst us without any bells or whistles. Cool.
