Actually, Liz, they are on a Lunar calendar and the feast officially begins at sunset on the 10th day of their 12th month, when you can no longer distinguish a black thread from a white thread in natural lighting.

Unless I've got my days off (and it wouldn't be the first time) the feast begins Sunday night at sunset Mecca time, whiich is 3 hours ahead of GMT. That would put them about 8 hours ahead of the Eastern Time Zone.

So there are still a few hours left :)

Sooooooo, what time, exactly, for those of us who are time impaired, is that?

Having been in the ME during Ram. when the fasting also ends when the threads cannot be distinguished, it surely was interesting to note when it was that that happened...was surprised as I had never been there during Ram. before and so seeing what it looked like outside vs. when fasting actually ended really was interesting!
