The left wrote the book on co-opting the language. Communists learned long ago that to control people you must control the language.
Has this chick not read 1984? That's one of its major themes.

"The right wing has ... captured the language. They say that they're 'pro-life' Uh, yeah, they do. And the Left claims that they're "pro-choice." Just what "choice" is it that they favor? The choice to murder helpless people who are an animate consequence of an absent morality? You don't call THAT playing fast and loose with the parlance?

"Bush's brilliance in the linguistic arena"
Last I heard Bush was anything but brilliant in everything, including speech.

Yes. And the liberals have their euphemisms institutionalized. The Associated Press style manual will not allow reporters to use abortion as a noun. Whenever refering to abortion, the writer must say "abortion rights." And pro-lifers must be referred to as "anti-abortion." This takes the term "abortion" from the central focus of the sentence and makes it a mere adjective, while "rights" become the focus. Who can be against rights?
The liberals are just more subtle.

Political Correctness by it's very definition is politically incorrect.Intollerence of intollerence is politically incorrect.
also..according to the libs,
any tax cut = tax cut for the rich,
pro life = anti reproductive rights,
anti abortion = anti womens rights.
Pro life and anti abortion are the same thing.I am anti abortion because I am pro life. A few years ago I stated in a chat room that pro choice really meant pro death because the baby always dies. You would not believe the names I was called for that.

"Everyone loves children and has a vested interest in their future." Oh yeah; that's why you socialist/Marxist types are so anxious to kill them in the name of "reproductive choice." Here's a clue, lady...women make their "reproductive choice" when they lay down!"
We all strive to embody patriotism, especially post-Sept. 11."
Sure you do...that's why you people do everything in your power to undermine the sovereignity of this country and give aide and comfort to our enemies every opportunity you get. Here's another clue for you: patriots support the president in time of war.
"No one, in her heart of hearts, wants to see a mockery made of marriage."
Oh really? Is that why you people support perverts sashaying around in make believe marriages getting in the face of people trying to raise decent kids with solid values?
Your entire case is intellectually dishonest. You have some nerve casting aspersions on this adminstration after bowing down at the altar of the liar-in-chief of the 90's. How are those knee pads holding up, by the way?
The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to astound me.

I certainly would believe it. I have attacks on people for disagreeing with the homosexual agenda, with the environmental agenda and the affirmative action agenda. These attacks seldom have anything to do with facts and logic. Usually they are couched in the language of PC and personal attacks.
Debates on the merits of ideas have no appeal to those PC types.

I thought she actually made us sound pretty good. One thing of note -- she seems to be one little liberal who's caught on that Dubya is not the illiterate moron that they always think he is. I've noticed that one liberal behavior trope is to claim that the pubs have already won -- that we control everything. It's crap of course, our "control" of congress and the presidency seems more than offset by their lock on the judiciary and the mainstream press. But we seem to be making some progress. We have to be really really patient just like the libs. This mess wasn't created overnight, it won't be fixed overnight. The movement must go on long after W has served his second term and retired. That's why these people that are ready to jump ship because he's not right enough are so disheartening. He may not be right enough, but if he is successful it will open the door for more and more conservative candidates.

I fear you are right about the terrorism actions. I don't trust the left, they are far too emotional over their issues and unlike a few kooks on the right, it seems to be a mass hysteria on that side of the fence which I think at some point will escalate into them taking their emotions into action.

Karla Saia is an English senior and opinion editor for The Daily Aztec.Ha!
Even as I read this silly screed I figured that the author must be a high schooler.
It's too easy.

This poor misguided child is still someones "Little Girl".
She has currently, been confused by her Leftist educators to know anything different.
She still sees the World through the eyes of some tenured Marxist. Sooner or later, she will cut her teeth on some article that leads her to the truth.
If, at that point, she still rejects the facts and choses to follow her misguided ideology, she becomes a true liberal. Until then, I will forgive her naivety.

The biggest distortion, I think, is the lie that the budget is being "cut" when in reality only the rate of increase is being cut. I'm always amazed at that one. That one gets me too! And it so clearly points out the thoughts of their deepest heart, which is to say, the government is entitled to all our money, and any we keep is only through their generosity.
Let's see, government owns everything...what name might that go by?...that would be COMMUNISM.
To: chance33_98
Oh, gosh. Here we go.
Liberals are at a loss to explain the success of the Right, so they've manufactured a nice fantasy for themselves. We've "captured" the language!
These are the same people who've created euphemisms for everything from taxation to abortion, who've deconstructed everything from Shakespeare to Plato. And they have the nerve to insist that we've "captured" or are manipulating language for political ends?
Freudian projection at its best, my friends.
