Yes, for a little longer anyhow. Jobs were scarce here before this latest announcement. I made my decision to relocate already, this just confirms my choice.
How dependant on Boeing and other airplane related companies is the city?
Wichita has always prided itself and been dependent on aircraft manufacturing.
Twenty years ago this would have been devastating, but the city has grown over the years while aircraft employment has declined overall.
Boeing is still the largest employer but the economy has diversified somewhat.
Manufacturing of ANYTHING has declined here, though, with plants closing or moving to Mexico.
I lived here most of my life but decided I didn't want to hang around and watch the agony any more.
Last one out of town, please turn off the lights!
