In Europe, Is It A Matter of Fear, Or Loathing? (TROP™ throws its weight around in the UK)
The Washington Post ^ | January 25, 2004 | Robin Shepherd

It's the biggest political correctness flap Britain has seen in years. It has pitted one man against the BBC — Britain's highbrow, purportedly impartial state television network — and unleashed a national fracas over what may or may not be said about the hottest topic of the moment: Islam and the West.

Earlier this month, Robert Kilroy-Silk, a one time Labour MP and for 17 years the host of one of British television's most successful daily talk shows, let loose with a few thoughts about the Arab world. In a column for the mass circulation Sunday Express newspaper, under the deliberately provocative headline "We owe Arabs nothing," he opined, in part, as follows:

"Apart from oil — which was discovered, is produced and is paid for by the West — what do [Arab countries] contribute? … They should go down on their knees and thank God for the munificence of the United States. What do they think we feel about them? … That we admire them for the cold-blooded killings in Mombasa, Yemen and elsewhere? That we admire them for being suicide bombers, limb-amputators, women repressors?"

The comments exploded in the British media. The Guardian newspaper, the house journal of both the British left and the BBC, lambasted them as "boorish, ignorant and offensive." Kilroy, as both he and his show are known, was promptly suspended by the BBC. Muslim affairs commentator Faisal Bodi, writing in the Guardian, thereupon declared: "Finally, it's safe to turn on your TV. Britain's minority communities can rise this morning in the knowledge that they will no longer be assailed by a vainglorious hatemonger affecting social concern on their screens." Ten days ago, after an extended media furor, Kilroy was forced to step down. He may even face prosecution under race relations legislation that carries a maximum sentence of seven years in jail.

Other than petroleum and homicide, what are the contributions of the Arab world of today? (as in we don't want to hear about 7th century mathematics, etc)

The truth is not a defense in England, and sometime not in this country, either. I suggest Kilroy defect to the USA, where the libs can ruin him, but at least not (very often) imprison him.

That was stolen from India, anyway. Knowledge was preserved to serve the needs of the ruler, but not for the enlightenment of the people.

With the above pronouncement, our "Mother Country" is official DEAD. Cause of Death: Open borders & Politcal Correctness

How much longer for the USA, also well-infected with above two diseases?

There was an old saying "There will always be an England", I used to believe that, but now I'm beginning to wonder. The Brits need to stand up fast, before it's too late.

Political Correctness, i.e. fascism, is destroying freedom of speech and the press and is ready to destroy Europe and Canada along with the freedom loving citizens there in ; America needs to make preemptive strike that will devastate the democrat party, political correctness fascism, and thereby renew America's sovereignty; I reckon.

"Embrace diversity, just don't point out the differences"

No one wants to hear the truth anymore. In fact speaking the truth makes a person a racist, bigot, hatemonger, etc.

Its true without oil the west would give a flying leap about the Arab world. When's the last time the West was VERY concerned about the political climate in Chad for instance. It also true that Islam is NOT a religion of peace - thankfully most muslims have no clue what their religion is all about. Truth hurts, and the Brits needs to open their eyes.

The John Peter Zenger case is precedent in the United States of America, not in the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

No problem. I ain't all here sometimes. LoL

Let's just say the actions of the Arabs are not all "peaceful" and "tolerant" of others. They demand "tolerance" from others, but when they get critized, they go on a "jihad".

Nope. It's called being responsible for your actions.
