Do Mexican Army units cross into the US?
Yes.
Sometimes they're chasing Zapatista supporters into the US. It's worth noting that the border is extremely poorly marked in eastern Arizona.
Sometimes they're escorting drug smugglers.
As for the claims of ChiCom involvement...that rumor has been floating around like a turd in the punchbowl, for FIFTY YEARS.
And it's also worth noting that there were "Germans in Mexico" invasion scares well before the Zimmermann Telegram affair.
