Marlins Bask in Bush's League (Bush honors world champion Marlins at White House)

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On the White House's first floor, beside a four-piece Marine band, outside the Blue Room with its postcard view of the Washington Monument, Jack McKeon looked around early Friday afternoon and said, "I'm dying. I need a cigar."

He pulled back his suit jacket. He revealed two thick Padrón cigars stuck from his shirt pocket. He winked.

"I'm gonna give one to the president," the Marlins' manager said.

Did you expect anything less?

Why should you apologize? It was God's plan for the Red Sox to be in the World Series and when Little broke up that plan, God said, "Vengeance is mine" and smote the Yankees.

I'd like to have seen someone offer Clinton a cigar. He probably would have gone right out and put it in his humidor.

Missed baseball season this year, but heard our Marlins beat our noisy northern neighbors. (^:

Interesting article. Even though I'm a Yankee fan, I enjoyed reading about Bush and the Marlins.
