HereIceland has had a long history or out-of-wedlock births. It may be due their method of passing on family names.

I don't have time to check out your link tonight; I keep trying to get off FR and have an actual life tonight, but I keep having to ping people! I have heard that in Iceland the family name is merely "father's name" plus "son" or "daughter" in Icelandic. Does your linked article mention the prevalence of either homosexuality or couples (married or unmarried) disuniting? Does it mention whether the unmarried mothers are "single" as in no man or just living with the father?
I'll try to check your article tomorrow.

What a fiasco in iceland. Hardly a good example.
Interesting that Greece has only a 3% out of wedlock births. Of course it is a heavily orthodox christian nation.

Given Iceland's completely unique insular status, it isn't really a useful example for most countries.
