CA AMMO TAX (AB 992) ON THE ASSEMBLY FLOOR

AB 992 (Ridley-Thomas) - Ammo Tax - After being defeated in 2003, this outrageous attack on the law-abiding shooting industry re-appeared late today on the Assembly floor. AB 992 would levy a tax on the sale of ammunition of 10 cents on every cartridge sold at retail to fund a "Victims Reimbursement Fund."

Never, never forget.

Until the next election cycle the idiots are still in charge of the institution (Ca legislature).

My real fear is that some justifiably frustrated but whacked resident of California will artificially alter the election cycle for one district of this disconnected legislature and lend indirect support to this attack on the 2nd amendment.

That's a whale of a tax on many of the more common cartridges. I wonder if this would apply to ammo ordered out of state, or can you even order from out-state sources in Kali?

"Victims Reimbursement Fund."

This ought to come from the gun grabbers pockets. They're the ones that enable it.

Thanks for posting this, Mike!

If anyone is interested, I am running for the California State Assembly, and I have signed the "Pre-Oath of Office" written by Daniel J. Schultz of the Lawyers Second Amendment Society.

The Pre-Oak declares that "I shall NEVER vote for legislation that prohibits the private ownership of arms or ammunition; nor take any action, directly or indirectly, which would restrict or deny the guaranteed natural right of the people to purchase, own, possess, sell, lease, loan, manufacture, transport or use arms and ammunition for the purpose of defense of person, family, home or property, regardless of any condition that may exist, including a declaration of State or national emergency."

You can learn more about the Pre-Oath and about my candidacy at www.BrantukForAssembly.org

Pre-Oath, NOT Pre-Oak.

I'll try to proof-read more closely next time.

I hope it passes.. And becomes 'law'..
The sooner we reach the tipping point in CA politics, the better, imo. We are suffering from the death of a thousand cuts as it goes now.

It's time..

They'll never pass this and they know it. They're just wasting our tax dollars and throwing away the time that they should be spending on real, pressing matters. The people should be outraged, but hardly anyone knows or cares about this sort of thing.
I'll probably be moving to Wyoming. It just breaks my heart to see what's happening to California. I'm sure going to miss Big Sur and the Santa Lucias.

Ahnold once said in an SOF interview that he owned over twenty firearms...after the first Terminator movie they let him keep the Uzi he used...
Of course he can afford a paltry .10 tax on bullets
and probably get his from the Nat Guard....
Ahnold believes in 'sensible' gun control...

It broke my heart too. I lived there for over 40 years. Over the past 10-15 years it has increasingly gotten worse. I just couldn't take it anymore and got out. I will never regret it. I moved back to America.

I would be very upset if Arnold signs any gun control
bills, especially this one should it make it to his desk. Can you imagine a $50 tax on a $10 brick of .22 LR? I reload my own centerfire ammo and last year there was talk that the tax would also apply to primers, which sell for around 1.2 cents each. An 800% tax! Talk about the power to destroy!!

If there was a balancing reimbursement for every crime prevented by guns they'd pay us to buy ammo.

The legislature has become offensively left wing. If there is not some massive exodus of them this fall, I'm afraid there might be bloodshed. This legislature has been completely incompetent and intolerable.

If this passes the legislature, it'll be a good test of Arnold's conservative bona fides. If he signs it, that's all I'll need to know which side of the aisle he belongs on.
