[history]
During the early years of Gray Davis' governorship, the ideological tone of the Capitol reflected his fence-straddling centrism, reinforced by the Assembly's dominance by then-Speaker Robert Hertzberg and moderate Democrats.
The expansionist policy agendas of liberal legislators and their allied interest groups were frustrated by the incremental, business-friendly attitudes of Davis and Hertzberg. Corporate and professional groups, meanwhile, pumped millions of dollars into Davis' campaign coffers and those of Hertzberg and other "business Democrats," as they called themselves.

Could the Mod Squad's unhappiness with Nunez drive it into Schwarzenegger's brawny arms? We'll see. Let's hope so!

The anointment of Nunez is going to be seen by historians as the biggest mistake the California Democratic Party has made in the last few years. Their prior mistake, which is beginning to haunt them on a daily basis, is Nancy Pelosi.
Together these two far left run-a-mucks, anointed to high profile positions of leadership, will set the party back two generations.

Yes. Some of his high level internal legislative staff are good conservatives; Mike Genest, Richard Costigan, Cynthia Bryant to name a few.

Moderate = Liberal who's ashamed to admit it.A lot of people incorrectly use the word to refer to a person who is either a) a softspoken conservative or liberal with definitive positions, or b) a person who takes strong yet independent positions on many issues but on "average" is somewhat center-right to center-left.
