WASHINGTON -- Congress gave final approval Thursday to a massive spending bill for most domestic programs, clearing the way for new rules dealing with gun purchases, media ownership and overtime pay.
The legislation also allows the Bush administration to delay implementation of country-of-origin food labeling and create the nation's first federally funded school voucher program.

I hope the President vetos this bill and tells Congress to remove all the pork.
Republicans better stop the pork spending NOW if they want to hang onto their seats and keep control of the Congress.

Is it a series spending bill, too?

Since last year's Kings of Pork didn't disapprove, wonder how much of the real fatty pork goes into Sheets Byrd's state of WV or Stevens' state of Alaska?

It's only $11 billion to require the government to destroy gun check records immediately as the original law required. Maybe that is a pretty small bribe to get the government to do what it is required to do. Of course, $11 billion here and $11 billion there, and pretty soon you are talking about some money.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship". The current administration is not interested in fiscal conservatism. They are strongly inclined to militarism, and that curries enough favor with the mob to stay in power.

"including $50 million for an indoor rain forest in Iowa." Do you think that Iowa is the picture in the dictionary next to the word socialist?
