"Thematic in the Democratic primary campaign is that the United States is worse off now than it was before the invasion of Iraq."

Not to nitpick, but the author never actually goes on to say how things are better (or the same) in the US.

I liked your post but you might want to consider the fact that some of the righteous indignation might be well founded when one considers aspects of illegal immigration that's generally glossed over by the axis of media and political pundits. I guarantee you this problem is much more complex and lethal to the future well being of this country than we've been led to believe by the open border cheeeleaders, know-it-alls and soothsayers.

In my mind, this isn't really about the usual political yammering we see in every election cycle, it's about a segment of this great FR group that's been able to project the future ramifications of decisions being made by todays's politcal leaders and all we're trying to do is alert our fellow countrymen to the fact that the path we're taking is part of the de-construction of this country as we know it. Open borders, welfare to illegals, FTAA, motor voter, social security payments to illegals, have all infuriated many of us because we're not being told the truth about the future implications for us and our children. Anyone who blithely laughs off some of the info and warnings being set forth as to where we're headed is in for a very unpleasant awakening down the road.....when it's too late to do anything about it.

Thank you for sharing your views! I choose however not to discuss immigration issues on the forum for personal reasons.

Thank you for not sharing your views on immigration! I do find it interesting that you didn't mind sharing your views on how exasperating it must for the "majority" (which I doubt) to have to suffer through the views of those nasty Constitutionalists and others trying to explain the reality of our current plight vs. the yammering of the political/media spin doctors and soothersayers selling us out.

Hi SJackson;

How did anyone think this was an *immigration* post?

I actually found this doing a search because I was going to post it!! It is an AMAZING article. Absolutely a must read! But I wonder if people who responded truly read it.

Anyway, thanks for posting it SJackson. This one is BOOKMARKED!

Excuse my *interruption* but this article wasn't even *about* immigration. So how the heck did the discussion BECOME about immigration?

This is an awesome article. So intelligent, so articulate and relevant to what is going on today, that I even came to FR after reading it to do a "search" so I could post it if it wasn't already posted!

That's how I stumbled upon this thread. Why I was surprized to see a discussion about immigration. Which led me to ask if people were reading the same article I was? A discussion about immigration is totally *off topic* for this article!

Containment of Iraq would have cost more than liberation

If you read a little closer my repsonse to that poster revolved around the fact that many of our current problems are the result of flawed policies and lack of leadership from those we elected to represent OUR interests, not those of foreign corporations, individuals or govt's......and they are failing us miserably. Soaring debt at all levels, increasing trade deficits, hospitals failing, illegal immigration, border policies that allow terrorists to enter this country at will....these are all the symptoms of a society that's unraveling.

Don't get me wrong, being a small businessman I've always had a lot optimism about our system but now I see fedgov policies that allow some companies in this country to openly break federal law by hiring illegals, break federal tax laws by evading numerous taxes while those of us trying to do it right are nothing but big suckers. How can a nation that supposedly prides itself on operating by "the rule of law" have created such a double standard? Has it dawned on you that we're seeing the greatest corporate welfare scam ever created....imagine owning a business where you can hire illegals, pay them minimal wages knowing full well the their other living expenses will be passed on to the taxpayers? Whatta a heck of deal!

Who's to say we're not currently sowing the seeds for major ethnic conflict down the road by allowing so many people into this country and lavishing numerous welfare style benefits on them with the possiblity of someday having a major economic crisis that could stop these same benefits. (Did you know some we have debt a.k.a. "unfunded liabilities" thats total over 40 TRILLION $ that's conveneiently overlooked by the pols) We'll have literally millions of folks who cannot speak the language, have no job skills, etc. What kind of mood do you think they'll be in then?....some of these cities could easily turn into something could make the LA riots look like picnic. That's what I mean about the incomprehensible lack of foresight about the future ramifications of current policies.

Believe what you wish about where we're headed but I can absolutely guarantee you that anyone who blindly believes that either party at this point in our history has the best interests of the American taxpayer at heart is just too ignorant or arrogant to discern the truth.......and as a result this country will pay a terrible price.

Again, what the H*ll does what you just said, have to do with this article?

I'm not going to debate this issue with you on THIS particular thread.

Have you EVEN read this article?

Sheesh!! I don't think I can make it any plainer.

I'm more than happy to discuss this issue, but not on THIS thread.

Good grief.

Good gosh, I would assume that you've been on FR enough to know that threads take on a life of their own and tend to go in several directions with varied viewpoints....that's what makes the site so great. Everyone has the choice to answer, correct, or amplify the discussion and in this particular case I felt it necessary to point out a certain inconsistency I noted, which is my perogative regardless of how you take it. Since you don't care to debate the issue that's fine but know this....sooner or later you and many others will come face to face with the true reality of what we're facing to keep this republic whole....I hope youre prepared when that day comes.

Listen, I may agree with your position, or I may not.

But I tend to feel this thread and the article it was "about" was so important to have "warranted" it to remain focused on the original intent.

You strayed WAY off course.

IMHO
