Here we go again...

BERLIN, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has been captured, Germany's Die Welt newspaper reported Thursday.

The newspaper, on its Web site, cited "unconfirmed reports" as the basis for its report.

Bin Laden is the Saudi dissident blamed for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington that killed nearly 3,000 people. He was believed to be hiding along the Afghan-Pakistan border.

They are peddling the same report from yesterday. Apparently the Pentagon's denial has not reached them.

Die Welt isn't an insignificant German periodical. It might be a human interest type rag rather than a news rag, though.

If bin Laden's captured, then the issue is who and where? We might never see him or get a hand on him.

My guess would be Pakistan. But, if it's Iran,then give it up. We're not getting him.

Without any further info, this is an Elvis Sighting.

It would be nice if it's true, and understandable that they'd want to keep it somewhat quiet while they extract as much operational info from him as possible, without tipping off the terrorist cells.

If it's not true, one wonders if it's a strategic plant intended to force him into the open, so to speak, in order to prove it's not true.
