I'd like to Bush sign an Executive Order Directing the Armend force to patrol the border with Mexico.

Maybe the governors of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, etc. can call out the National guard to do this.

I know, it's wishful thinking on my part. Sigh.

I'm with you there. But it's not likely to happen. We can't be offending the invaders from the south, ya know.

"I'd like to Bush sign an Executive Order Directing the Armend force to patrol the border with Mexico."

I keep hearing this patrol-the-border mantra, as if that would be the ultimate solution to the illegal immigration problem.

However, I remember reading on the INS site (am looking for the link as we speak) that 2/3 of illegal immigrants to this country simply overstay their visas.

Do we stop allowing people from other countries into America as tourists, or to do business?

That would be the only way to stop all illegal immigration.

Think about it. If you are in Mexico and want to come to the U.S., what's from stopping you from saving a few pesos and getting a tourist visa?

Really, I despise illegal immigration as much if not more than the next person, but patrolling the borders with our military is not THE answer. Yes, it might help slightly, but those desparate enough to get here would simply come as tourists, I believe.
