Was there anything in that speech to get excited over? Quite frankly, I got bored and stopped listening. I was hoping he would try to redeem himself by announcing a plan to privatize SS, which in my mind is about the only thing he can do right now to redeem himself, but instead we got a small spending wish list, tax cuts, more illegals, etc. Wake me up when it's over....

. . . perhaps if you had stayed awake, you would have heard him call for just such a plan [again, unbelievable!]

. . . Oops, forgot to ask you a question: Why do you care about immigration -- as a libertarian, you must know that your party supports open, unrestricted borders -- Hmmmmmmmmmm! OK, now go back to sleep!

DOn't you see what he's doing, he's taking away ammo from the libs. Same with Campaign finance reform, same with last year's budget. He's doing that so that we can appear compassionate, get the economy chugging along nicely enough so that we gain enough seats so that once he's re-elected we can steamroll the GOP agenda through in his second term (make tax cuts permanent, school vouchers, fill the judiciary with strict constructionist types that will uphold traditonal values and not be rubberstamps for the Democratic party and the ACLU (et al). It will all happen, all in good time...
