An opposition legislator was sharply criticized Thursday for saying she could conceivably become a suicide bomber herself if she had to live like Israel's Palestinians.

I wonder why? Most Palestinian housing is at least two story concrete buildings. I certainly cannot afford the rent to live that good.

My bet is this person has never actually seen any Palestinian Housing. I did a Google search and found a rather strange anomaly, you cannot find any pictures of housing inside Palestinian "refugee camps". It seems the Propaganda department of the PA is very efficient.

Amazing, that a person is willing to slaughter others and herself on information she has never actually seen, but on the word of Arafat, someone who is known to never tell the truth in english.

Er, uh, Jenny, you been living in a spider hole for the last decade and missed that whole Oslo thing? The Palestinians live not under Israel, but under the kleptocratic, warmongering thugocracy of the Palestinian Authority. When they did live under Israeli military occupation the Palestinians had the best health care, access to education, highest reinvestment of tax proceeds into local infrastructure, etc, etc, etc, not just of Palestinians in any other Arab country (compare for instance to Lebanon were Palestinians receive no health care, aren't allowed to hold jobs, and can't even bring building materials into their squalid refugee camps), but of any general Arab population period.

Yeah, but the Palestinians aren't shooting at Arafat and his thugs, they're shooting at the Israelis. Would you "shoot the shit out of the people" years after they had ended their formal military occupation, and, with the political support (indeed in response to the demands) of a solid majority of their population, where making every effort to extract themselves permanently from responsibility for your governance?

Don't you get it? The Israelis (something like a 70 percent majority) don't want to occupy or govern the disputed territories. They are eager to extract themselves, provided only that it can be done so as to preserve or increase their security.

The MP suffers from intellectual laziness. She has gained all her information from the British newspapers and the BBC. According to her knowledge the intifada and the suicide bombing are caused by Israel's ill-treatment of the Arabs.

The real facts are the opposite. The intifada was started after the Arabs accepted that Arafat rejected the most generous offer for peace making made by Barak. This agreement showed that the Israelis want peace at any price. The Palestinians on the other hand don't want peace. They want all of Israel.

Each time that there is progress towards peacemaking the suicide bombing increases. Each time that the IDF pulls out of an Arab village (hard to call them cities) the place becomes a hotbed of suicide bomb preparation. Each time more and more Palestinians are allowed to cross the borders and seek work in Israel (which is not their birthright, but the only way that their lack of infrastructure will permit them to earn money and relieve their miserable living conditions) there are suicide bombers who take the opportunity to cross the border and cause it to close again.

Suicide bombers cause the behaviour of the IDF, in short, and increase the misery of the Palestinians. It is the incorrect perception of the UK and UN media that needs to be corrected, not the behaviour of the IDF, which is after all only protecting the Israeli public.
