You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The left prefers that groups of people be, and act like victims and fail as such so that America or white christians or whoever can be blamed.
Alot of the hate though I think goes back even farther, and to the world of acadamia (it'd be of great difficulty to find more hatred of jews there then anywhere). Acadamia has always had a hatered of Jews, part of it, is there own want to be "insiders" and have knowledge no one else knows, so they buy into conspiracy therories more then normal rational people would, and the easist group to place in a conspiracy theroy is always the jews.
I think it drives the left nuts to see such a small portion of the worlds population, defy the conventional thinking that would let one assume that the Arab world should be able to destroy them, and to see a group of people, who were almost exterminated off the face of the earth, who have dealt with prejudice, still thrive and be successfull.
Hell, I know african americans here in NYC who hate it when they hear about how the jews were almost exterminated in WW 2, and refuse to call what happened with the Nazi's, the holocaust.
