The news bimbo on Fox this morning gave new meaning to the word ignorant. She described this story about the "carrier Oriskany, only she pronounced it "or.is.CANNY." Get a clue, Fox. Then hire a bright high school kid who can tell you how to properly pronounce names.

I remember the picture taken of my Dad (combat vet of two wars and many conflicts) retiring from the Navy back in the early 60s...the look on his face...his final salute...as he walked past the officers of his last ship
The USS North Hampton
And looking through all the pictures he kept of all the ships he was on, in his 23 yrs of Navy service...and the fondness he spoke of for them and for the sailors he served with..
Must have been a bitter sweet day to see her being towed down that channel...& knowing the fate that awaits her
The memories flooding back in...
God Bless the men and women who go down to the sea in ships...and who sail in harms way
to keep us safe and free..

Good heavens - I said my goodbye to the O-boat somewhere in the South China Sea in '75 if memory serves (and that's getting to be a looooong time ago). The fossil I was on, the USS Chicago (CG-11, not one o' them dang submarine thingies) was of her generation.
Sad to see her go, but my gracious, she's had a stay of execution for a long time. The Chicago was razorblades long ago. Sic transit gloria and all that.
