[history]
Conjoined twins born Tuesday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis were still in critical condition this morning and aren't expected to survive much longer, one of their doctors said.
The girls' parents, Fort Wayne teen-agers, directed doctors not to provide aggressive care, said Dr. Robert Jansen, a neonatologist who was there for the birth.

I found the picture of the family as well as the mother's comments touching.
Marsha Boyanowski said her daughter was excited to see the babies. "All she could say was, 'Aren't they beautiful?' "
and from the Grandfather..."It's hard being able to hold something as precious as Stephanie and Rebecca, and to know their time might be short," said John Boyanowski, the girls' maternal grandfather.
And how refreshing this is...
The parents did not attend a news briefing on the girls' birth.
They Ft Wayne teens are letting nature take it's course by not providing "aggressive" care. However the parents and family are apparently spending as much time with the girls as possible.
Prayers for what appears to be a very strong family with values not usually seen today.

Not all hope is lost. There are a pair of dicephalus conjoined twins in the United States by the name of Hensel. Back in the 1800's, the Tocci brothers of Italy, with the same affliction, were famous. It is rare that these sorts of twins survive - in ancient days they were considered monsters. But today, there is a chance of survival.

WOW! I just did a Google and read about the Hensel girls. Amazing.

I just hope that "not providing aggressive care" doesn't mean starving them to death.
These days you can't be to sure.

No I dont think so. It means not supplying o2 and resp care. These are premies and probably have all sorts of anomoloies that will kill them.

Oxygen is aggressive care? Jeez.
I cannot imagine being in these parents shoes, but I cannot imagine not giving my kids oxygen either.
