Last Congressional session it was alway hard to start up a thread to cover what outragous item or saying was happening in congress on FR in a timley manner.
So since FreeRepublic is as place were we try to "work to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America."
I think it will be a good idea to start a daily thread to cover congress.
(Not sure yet if there should be one for the House & one for the Senate or one for both.)
Tell me y'all think.
Ideas, Suggestions, Good idea or no?

It's hard to tell why I keep hearing silence.
Is real player trying to buffer the stream, or is Byrd just trying to put a complete sentence together?

The last I saw him, he looked like he was trying to hold down a few rum and cokes. Sweatin like crazy and eyes glazed over.

I've got CSPAN2 on mute on the TV. He's trying to put complete sentences together, pacing back and forth. It's a tight shot of him, I kinda wonder if the chamber is empty.

No they normally keep a tight shot on Byrd so you can't see the people he has to ask questions to during him speaking.
Like: "What was I talking about?"

in light of the mad cow disease outbreak in Washington state Honestly, I didn't know one cow constituted an outbreak. The media around here are positively having an attack over this. ONE COW! FROM CANADA! And they slaughter the entire herd just to make us feel better.
I believe I'll have a nice steak for dinner tonight. Yum!

Sounds like Byrd dusted off Kennedy's last speech.

Durbin is getting all huffy about a part of the Bill that would REQURIE records of gun purchases to be DESTROYED after one day.
He doesn't like that (He's from IL after all) and want the FBI to keep these records in-case there is a need to 'RETREIVE A GUN'.

in-case there is a need to 'RETREIVE A GUN'. When that day comes, he better have a proctologist to call.

This 'rider'(destroying gun records) is really getting these guys fired up.
[Pardon the pun.]
McCain say he's "against a gun registration" but the FBI keeping a list for 90 days isn't a registration.
