Last Congressional session it was alway hard to start up a thread to cover what outragous item or saying was happening in congress on FR in a timley manner.

So since FreeRepublic is as place were we try to "work to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America."

I think it will be a good idea to start a daily thread to cover congress.

(Not sure yet if there should be one for the House & one for the Senate or one for both.)

Tell me y'all think.

Ideas, Suggestions, Good idea or no?

I think it's a very good idea! It could be kept permanently on the sidebar and people could add comments as they are watching/reading.

And I think we could post what is actually said by Senators/Congressmen after it is posted in the Daily Record.

Excellent!

I've been flipping over from time to time, but it has been rather boring. There was one good chuckle when Dorgan was complaining about the Omnibus Bill changes 'post conference'. He named three of about a dozen problems he had. There was the Labor Dept. overtime regs, country of origin labeling on food, and something else. He was saying that they won't let the majority get away with it....again. ;-)

I think that one thread is a great start. The House tends to be O.K. except for the pork, but most of those deals don't even get on C-SPAN anyway. If there is a hot issue being debated over there, an 'extra' thread can always be started and cross linked.

Bush grows beef. I loved how the media was in mass hysteria when Bush said he was going to continue to eat beef even in light of the mad cow disease outbreak in Washington state, and I yelled back at the TV set that BUSH IS A CATTLE RANCHER!

I'm a cattle rancher and my freezer is full of beef that I've grown.

I always looked at it as "Raising Cattle"

"Growing beef" sounds like the ranchers are planting cows.
