1) I routinely slam Amnesty for failing to criticize leftist governments. By exception, they did the right think by slamming the sadist of Pyongyang. So congratulations, AI.
2) The next democratic government that bribes KIJ to behave nicely deserves a special quadrant in hell, reserved for them and all their ministers. The Koreans will suffer badly, but the only way to make KIJ behave and let his people have freedoms, is to force him to the govern in accordance with his principles. He will fail, if he is forced to do this.

"The report appears to confirm fears of the United States and others that food supplies are being diverted to the military or given as rewards to supporters of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il."

What AI is telling us, is that we need to stop bribing this slime ball and allow his regime to collapse under it's own dead weight.

Darned if the JucheFruit isn't looking a little capitalist these days.
"The report accuses the North Korean government of distributing food unfairly, favoring those who are economically active and politically loyal."

Kim like his pal Fidel, are "Communists in Name Only" Both are among the richest men in the world, hardly anything "communist" about them.

"...are among the richest men in the world..." How true!
The hypocrisy and irony is that.......Every single Communist society that has ever been birthed on this planet to date has ended up with a few elite on top parasitizing and enriching themselves at the expense of an imprisoned populous.

Forbes.com: Kings, Queens & Despots lists the estimated wealth
of several kings, queens, and dictators.
Of note are Saddam Hussein
($2.0), Yasir Arafat ($300M), and Fidel Castro ($110M).
Yeah, they're rich. They dominate the political structure of their
countries or regions (Arafat has no country), and take whatever
they can from the people of their nation or region.
But if you look at the
wealthiest capitalists, you can see that the richest dicataor,
Saddam Hussein, with all his oil field, his military, and his palaces, rates around 88th.
Arafat and Castro don't even make the top 400.

A lot of poor innocents will die, there is no doubt. How bad do things have to get before the remaining population no longer believes in the political/economic system and refuses to lift a finger to prolong it? The Soviet Union and Eastern Europre are good examples of the communist rot collapsing under its own weight. It might take another 50 years, but the Koreans will eventually figure it out.

North Korea is the closest thing to a religious cult. Case in point. Last year there was some event I think in South Korea where there was a banner of 'Lil Kim shaking the hand of the South Korean president. It started to rain, and the woman from the North Korean delegation were so appalled that a picture of 'Lil Kim would be left out in the rain to get wet that they ran screaming and crying to take the picture down and fold it up. Next to Howard Dean the other night, it was the freakiest thing I had ever seen.

AI has been critical of Leftist governments in the past but there bias comes in highlighting the relatively minor Human Rights violations of rightist or authoritarian rightest governments in comparison to more widespread and horrendous abuse in Leftist totalitarian states. They seem to put the abuses of a Pinoshet, for example, on the same plain as a Pol Pot.
