[history]
The Bush administration's proposal to offer amnesty to illegal immigrant workers has prompted federal officials to instruct border patrol agents not to disclose information that might reflect poorly on the idea, a government document shows.
Meanwhile, U.S. border patrol agents have been told to ask a series of questions when they capture illegal immigrants, including whether the immigrants have heard of President George W. Bush's proposal.

Bush's proposal."Sorry to scare you like that. We were just trying to catch up with you to see if you'd be interested in answering a few questions for our survey. No? Well, ok. We'll let you go on with your business. Have a safe trip."

This gets more disgusting by the day.
Does Fox have pictures of Bush with a mexican prostitute or what? This is just insane.

Bush's position on this is so strange and makes no sense. There is no political advantage to him or the Republicans. When these foreigners become eligible to vote in the US, they will vote for whowvere their home country leaders tell them to vote for. Twenty years from now, the Presidente of Mexico ("as crooked now as then") will have more ability to control the politicis of the US than the US president does.
I listened for weasel words in Bush's speech. There were some. He talked about "willing" employers and jobs for which there were no American takers. Then, he talked about the 600,000 prisoners who would be released this year who need training and jobs.
My hope is that there is comfort in the fine print. The damage that Mexican illegals do to US society is extraordinary. Some farmers look only at the hourly labor costs and believe we are getting a good deal. They refuse to include all the other costs that don't fall on the farmer and the liabilities that we are building for the future. What can Bush be thinking of?

XBob's plan:
1. Illegal's responsibility - caught illegals can never return to or work in US
2. Illegal's responsibility - Anchor babies - no longer allowed.
3. Illegal's responsibility - No SSI benefits for illegals.
4. Illegal's responsibility - No IR$ refunds for illegals.
1. Employer responsibility - 1st illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home.
2. Employer responsibility - 2nd illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus another caught by INS.
3. Employer responsibility - 3rd illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus 3 caught by INS.
4. Employer responsibility - 4th illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus 4 caught by INS.
5. Employer responsibility - 5th illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus 5 caught by INS.
etc, etc etc
Results:
Gradualally escalating returns of illegals, lots of self returns, illegals make money for govt rather than cost money.

7 - This plan is rough, but would work. What if FReepers we were add to/polish it up a bit, but keeping it very simple, and make a serious political proposal out of it?
Perhaps add something like migrant workers could only be hired in their country of origin, would have to come directly from it to their job, and be allowed to remain for only one harvest season, or 6 months, or something?
Let's do something constructive, rather than just bitch!!

Nothing would ever come of it unfortunately. There are too many republicans in DC that get on their knees whenever big business walks into the room.

so you would rather give up before we even start?
What are you, a government employee? Think not, why won't it work, think how can we make it work.

Any illegals who receive medical/food aid at taxpayer's expense will have 25% of their wages deducted until debt is paid. Mexico must also agree to do the same on any wages the worker earns there.
Employers who wish to employ these willing workers must agree to pay any remaining amount their workers take from the social services support system that these workers do not repay.

We need to start a letter writing campaign and a visiting campaign to all our elected officials. Instead of concentrating on complaining about the hot button issues which they can ignore, we should start getting very vocal and loud that we want them to start enforcing the Constitution now! If that becomes our battlecry, and we are successful, then all the other issues that difuse our clout will start to be resolved.
We need to contact the media as well and make it known we are very very unhappy with politicians who do not respect the Constitution.
The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are all we citizens have left. We must act now to protect them!

Why is it that nobody has addressed the 1st amendment rights of the Border Patrol Officers?
Do they not have the same right to speak out on issues equally with all other American citizens?
Who is the dictator that deprives these American citizens of their rights?
Somebody needs to be fired for this!

Why is it that nobody has addressed the 1st amendment rights of the Border Patrol Officers? You don't have 1st Amendment rights with respect to criticizing your employer. If they are THAT serious about this, then they can quit.
Do they not have the same right to speak out on issues equally with all other American citizens?
Sure. If I want to bad-mouth my employer, I can quit my job. So can these guys.
