Being from New England doesn't change anything, he's an athlete.
A few years ago I read in Music Magazine that liberals are mostly fans of actors and musicians, and that those on the right are mostly fans of athletes.
Since that time, I've found this to be more and more true every day.

I'd say you're right, but I guess it doesn't hurt. Plus, Brady has appeal beyond New England, especially in Michigan.
