Even Bill Clinton and a Democratic Congress didn't spend like this.

In tonight's State of the Union address, President Bush can claim credit for a rebounding economy spurred by two rounds of tax cuts. He can take further credit for pushing those cuts despite opposition from the deficit hand-wringers--including, we now know, his first Treasury Secretary.

Anyone that voted republican expecting smaller government needs a reality check. A professional politician has one thing in mind, "RE ELECTION". These lifetime politicians perpetuate their job via the U.S. Treasury.

Congress's drunken spending sailors

As a former drunken sailor I resent being compared to congress.

Comparing the spending habits of Congress to the spending habits of drunken sailors is an insult to drunken sailors!

Lots of people get it.

When the MASTHEAD in the WALL STREET JOURNAL is cussing out the Republicans in general --and Dubya in particular -- it is time to sit up and take notice, people.

This ain't just a Laz thing, here.

The comparison insults just plain drunks, too.

Mr. Bush is eager for passage of certain line items, such as his program to combat AIDS in Africa

To the tune of $15 billion (that will inevitably find its way into the deep pockets of the continent's dictators).

President Bush can help shore up his conservative base and appeal to many moderate voters by exercising his very first veto here.

Reagan had voted 20 bills by this time in his first term. .....the man just wasn't "compassionate" enough, I guess.

Speaking of drunks...That drunken walrus carcass that was shown on TV during Bushs speech was Ted Kennedy, just in case some could not idenify what it was.

Actually, he had sobered up just a bit since his joint appearance with John F'n Kerry in Iowa.
Still drunk though.

Watching Teddy squirm was the best part of the speech. The second best was watching Hillary try to look positive. We were rolling on the floor last night--just priceless!

For the life of me, I can't figure out why the Dems are so upset with Bush on his domestic agenda. He's doing a pretty effective job of growing the government.

BTW, watch what you post here, or you'll be accused of trolling for DU by the Bush bots! I speak from experience... ;)

Thanks for the concern...I am a conservative, not a dem or a pub. Pubs here do not want to hear from conservatives, they just want our votes. There is not a dimes worth of difference between a partisan pub and a partisan dem. Neither thinks for himself.

It seems the Busbots don't come 'round these threads much anymore. I had thought that it was because they were all over at the "Day in the Life" thread but I guess it's really because they have nothing to say except 'he's not as bad as...'
