Kristol was talking about "importance" and the Dean speech, politically, was more "important" in defining him over Bush's defining him.
Kristol was trying to be witty and cute and just doesn't pull it off well.

Kristol was trying to be witty and cute and just doesn't pull it off well. Alas, maybe why I don't like him. That and he can be a hissing weasel. Campaign 2004 started last night, and Kristol and Barnes gave us a huge dose of where they will be coming from tonight.
