"And right now President Bush's approval rating among 18- to 29-year-olds is 62 percent, higher than his nationwide rating."

Just wait till folks that age have their paychecks RAPED to pay for Dubya's "compassion." Their cognitive dissonance must be due to their parent's pot use while they were in the womb.

He better get the youth, because he has a good chance of losing the support of us working people between the age of 40-60. With all apologies to Mr. Reagan.

I would consider myself more of a young paleo-conservative/libertarian than a supporter of the Republicans. They can't increase the size and scope of government this much and expect my vote.

I won't vote Democrat, so I just won't vote at all.

With Bush what you see is what you get. The younger generation is so accustomed to everything coming from a "Focus Group" and being "Marketed" to a certain demographic. They are savvy to these contrived politicians who roll up there sleeves, or wear a certain color tie to appeal to a certain group. Bush has not been actively marketed to this group, they just see that he has done what he says he will do. He has proven that he can an will "do the job" of being president. This bodes very well for November!

Pres. Bush makes no apologies for his upbringing, his mis-use of word, his religion, his use of force in Iraq. Bush is presidential, he shows strength of character, he is not making decisions for our country based on popular opinion and polling numbers. Just because the liberal media has portrayed Bush in a negative manner, the younger generation is not buying it. 62% approval in an age group of 18-29 year olds is unbelievable. This group will be getting jobs based on the better economy that is in store them in the coming years. I hope that this info. sends the Dumbocrats into a tizzy.

as significant as 9-11 was to all of us, it may have had a greater impact on younger people politically in terms of shaping their views of government. I am 29, and back ten years or so when I was in high school, political views were to be formed by going issue to issue to determine which side you like....the issues were the environment, health care, welfare, education, etc. That formula leads many young to the left. Today, planes have flown into buildings on live broadcast television. That image to an 18 year has to be central to the formation of their political thinking.

I think to that there is a better distinction between the parties now than earlier generations where conservatives were seen as the uppity, church-goers and the left, the free thinkers who have fun and care about helping other people. I think young people realize that a conservative person can still be one to be out having fun, doing things young people do, but has a set of beliefs about foreign policy, defense, and low taxes. Being a conservative is not seen a being a stick in the mud. Thank you, Internet, Rush, and Fox. The impact of these media are just beginning to be realized.

During one of my lurking forays over at (you know where), one of their deep-thinking posters quoted Tom Delay’s remarks in the Sioux City Journal, then added his own comments. If his comment is any indication of how the average democrat thinks, a Bush re-election is guaranteed. And maybe a lot of young people feel more strongly about God than we give them credit for.

http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/articles/2004/01/20/news/local/3ff5afdf664622fb86256e2100206744.txt

"(Bush) is a moral man who has shown moral leadership in the face of crisis in this country. We are winning the war on terrorism because of George W. Bush," DeLay said. "Bush has a strong optimistic vision in how to lead this country."
"This president understands that we have to protect the American family. We understand that marriage in this country is between a man and a woman," DeLay said. "And we will fight to our last breath to keep God in this country."

Our du poster concludes with:
“Note the man's: Religous fanaticism: fighting to the last breath to keep god in the country???”

Sweet:

"Here's a harrowing pair of facts for Democrats: In 60 years, no Democrat has ever won the presidency without carrying the youth vote. And right now President Bush's approval rating among 18- to 29-year-olds is 62 percent, higher than his nationwide rating. Top Republican strategists admit that the youth vote is fluid, but right now the trends are all in their direction, which they hope is a harbinger not only for 2004, but also a possible longer-term party realignment."

Don't underestimate the backlash against left-wing professors.

The academics have the students for four years, the students have a lifetime of voting to compensate.

People in their 40s, who came of age in the last two years of Jimmy Carter and the first two years of Ronald Reagan.

Bingo. I remember being a young lad and havingno idea what a liberal or a conservative was. My first political thought was this "Carter's a wuss. Why isn't he kicking the crap out of the Iranians?" My second political thought was "Look at the Iranians handing out moist towlettes to the hostages and wishing them a safe trip back home because Reagan is the President. He's a Republican, I'm a Republican." That will not change-ever.

It's a way to early for polls to have any substantive meaning, but these figures are very intriguing.

Very interesting

As a young voter, I am looking into a way to get the Pro-Bush word out...there are too many Liberal vehicles trying to get young voters out there for their dwarves...we need to do something to counter this effect

What poll was this from....Zogby, Gallup, does anybody know?

It just says his approval. Well, there are lots of polls about his approval.

I definitely believe the results, but am interested in what poll specifically.
