Bush needs all the Conservative votes he can get. The problem is he isn't much of a Conservative. That's why blue-zone metro-sexual moderates and soccer moms like you are so enamoured with him. I'll give my vote to Bush when he starts acting like a Conservative, but we all know that's not going to happen. More likely he'll lurch even further to the left during the general election.
