Gov Ed Rendell just said Howard Dean is full of it that kerry/edwards stole anything from Dean.

You can't count JFK, if your question was if a President has ever lost to a sitting Senator. Eisenhower wasn't running in 1960.

To: William McKinley
Well in Iowa, those with only legislative experience got 82% of the vote tonight. I take your point, but don't take much comfort in your point. It will bite you in the butt.

But Dean's got credibility... he won the quasi-primary in DC by beating both Al Sharpton and Carol Moseley Braun... that DC vote is critical. < / sarcasm >
To: Sofa King
Yeah, Kerry was practically dead until a few weeks ago. He'll probably start raising more money in a hurry, which probably means his ketchup fortune is safe.
On the plus side we can go back to making Kerry jokes :)
BTW, to any DUers that are trolling this thread, read my tagline!

The last sitting House member to win the Presidency was James A. Garfield - he was Minority Leader (Republican)

And while you are right with Kennedy, that was one wicked close election, which Kennedy may not really have won, if not for some help from the Daleys... And if I recall the story correctly .. Kennedy kept the number of voter difference in his wallet as a reminder
