My very conservative, 83 year old mother (who lives with me) and I hosted my liberal sister and her husband for a few days at Christmas. I hate to report that we were glad to see them go. (I never knew mom understood the concept of high-fiving.) We'd heard about all we could stand on income equality, where are the WMD's, and how wonderful Hillary, Frankin, et al are. On their last day, I wore my 43 Bush jersey and served them orange juice in my President George W. Bush glasses. Mom and I are still wondering how they came to be that way. LOL.

Good for you on the last day, making your allegiance clear.
High five to your mother!

.45MAN and I visited my very liberal, JFK-era parents over Christmas and nearly all came to blows. We called a truce the next day and all made a vow to not discuss politics or religionfor the duration of the visit.
I have only myself to blame for my daughter's wayward leanings. I slowly moved to the right over klintoon's reign and finally was "knocked off the fence" over to the *right* side by .45MAN in '97 when we met.
[sigh] I really think that one day she'll wise up, just as I did. I have to be patient....
