In that, the whistle had not blown what if the defensive player pulls-up, McNabb gets to his feet and runs for 35 yards? Hmm? What then?

then you would agree with me that the specific protection of QBs creates more problems than it solves. but how can they argue he wasn't defenseless, yet call him DOWN last week on an important third-and 10 when he never even left his feet AND threw the ball in the ara of a receiver?

Bad rules get worse when applied inconsistently. God forbid Nate Wayne jumped on Brett Favre like that.

Agreed. Compared to basketball and especially baseball, the NFL keeps fiddling with their rules and, thus, creats more problems than they solve. Unitas never had to have these sissy-fied QB protections. And what about intentional grounding? What a joke that "rule" is, now!

He was in the grasp of defenders last week, but this week none of the defensive players touched him. He was fair game, and the last I checked, they are still playing tackle, not touch football.

Eagles fans deserve this loss. I'm talking about the Eagles fans at the stadium who are vicious and violent. There are many of them. I'm tickled they lost.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, the best that could have come from it, was a 15 yard penalty, that would have won the game for the Iggles I am sure(sarcasm off). Football is a MANS game, played by tough MEN. McNair is the same color as McNabb, but made of much tougher stuff. Barring a Theismann type injury, NO QB worth his salt, would sit on the sidelines unless the coach makes him, or he cannot walk or throw.
