POWAY, Calif (AP) - A mother rushing to get her son to school in San Diego County was arrested and jailed after a chase by the California Highway Patrol.
The 10-minute pursuit Friday morning ended outside Del Mar Pines School with the arrest of Stacy L. Taylor for investigation of evading arrest and child endangerment.

"She stated her husband had been yelling at her that morning to get her kid to school on time, and her kid had been crying,"Well, there ya go, a perfectly acceptable excuse to break the law.

That cop should live around here. Between the hours of 7-8 am and 3-4 pm, you take your life in your hands if you're on the road.

"She stated her husband had been yelling at her that morning to get her kid to school on time, and her kid had been crying," Shockley said. Ah, uh... well in that case, you're free to go! Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Driving from Poway to Del Mar is a loooong commute!
Could take an hour or more on any given day.

"She stated her husband had been yelling at her that morning to get her kid to school on time..." An interesting statement by the mother. It makes me wonder what could put that kind of fear into a woman by her husband. Any rational woman in a normal relationship would not have been driven to such acts for failing to fulfill what would appear to be a harmless directive from her husband.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong on their homefront but it does seem a bit odd.

Did the kid make it on time?

Actually, it was on Friday I believe....that article had the woman driving a Volvo station wagon; hence your question is answered!

Sounds like this poor mom was set up to me. And what are these cops doing chasing a woman with a kid in the car? Should have just let her go and gave her a ticket later.
I bet they wanted to let the police dog sniff around the car for dope. I woulda left too. Probably charge her with theft for stealing the ticket book.
These cops are out of control, surprised one of those Jack Boots didn't shoot her.

I'm sorry but some of us are always running late. Driving faster is a perfectly normal way to make up time. And she would have been later if she'd stopped to talk. makes sense to me. Homeschool is SO MUCH BETTER. no tickets, you are never late, pajama-rama. THAT is when we stopped being late to school. I highly recommend it.

I'm sorry but some of us are always running late. Granted. Perhaps this woman is the same. But this woman obviously does not exhibit this type of behavior every time she is late. Just wondering what pushed her 'over the edge' this time? Her husband yelling at her? If so, she should seek help.

How exactly could the mother throw the citation book out of the window? I mean I've never seen an officer hand the citation book to the peasant for them to review? That seems a bit odd? What was the mean time on this traffic stop? Had he delayed her for a very long time, that being out of the norm? Does heir officer have a habit of twisting the nickers of sobbing female motorists for perhaps an encounter at a different place and time?
And why the chase? You know where she resides. The chase is just soooo California. Just drive to her home and wait so we can all safely live another day without 100mph police cars rocketing down the highway during rush hour and school crossing time.

Hi, this is the
real SgtSolomon; my mom's computer has been giving her some trouble, since it's permanently logged in with my name. The situation will be easily rectified.
Maybe the woman was having computer troubles.... Who knows?

Speaking of Volvo's, a guy called into one of those NPR call in shows asking for car advice this weekend. He was a real liberal on his spawn from Washington DC to Seattle. He stopped for gas and found a pool of motor oil under his car. It was discovered that three quarts had leaked out from the engine and it would cost him $1,500 to repair. Instead he just bought a few cases of motor oil to keep her topped off, spewing the used motor oil all over the roads in Maryland all the way to Seattle.
I thought, "How Ironic?" That a liberal save the whales environmental Nazi would kill our planet to save $1,500 bucks?
The kicker was that he was making the trip to attend an environmental summit.
