Mother taking son to school arrested after CHP chase

POWAY, Calif (AP) - A mother rushing to get her son to school in San Diego County was arrested and jailed after a chase by the California Highway Patrol.

The 10-minute pursuit Friday morning ended outside Del Mar Pines School with the arrest of Stacy L. Taylor for investigation of evading arrest and child endangerment.

Oh, for goodness sakes, he is a kindergartner. It won't be the end of the world for him to be a few minutes late. As for her yelling husband, I bet he's in a real fine mood now that she ran from the police and is jailed.

I thought that too, but there are two ways to look at it. Mom really is scared because dad is threatening or mom is p*ssed after arguing with dad and takes it out on the police officer who she sees as an authoritative male figure like the husband. Could go either way...

Nonsense, as usual. The police would have been derelict in their duties to allow a driver to speed away and run stop lights, especially with a child in the car. Maybe the anti-cop and anti-self-governance anarcho-ideologues should keep looking for their long lost poster child of police brutality and societal oppression.

Agreed, I take my child to a private school cross town everyday. I wonder how many school zones this female blew on the way to take her own kid to school? She's probably done this before and being pulled over after the hubby yelling was probably the icing on the cake. Police aren't responsible for people having a bad day, you gotta learn to cope with it.

She had this kid at 39 is suffering a midlife crisis. Like the kid is interfering with her free spirit life style she has been accustomed to.

I submit that the chase was unwarranted. The cop probably knew that all he was writing her for was a speeding ticket. He also probably had cussed her out when he stopped her, like all cops do, and knew she was taking her kid to school.

He chases her, she keeps fleeing. If he just goes to the house afterward, writes her a ticket or arrests her it's all done with.

Who is the jury going to believe and in who's favor will they rule had this woman gotten into an accident and her kid got killed? Or if she had killed someone else? Still fleeing to the school she (or he) hits another kid in the school zone.

If he just goes to the house afterward, writes her a ticket or arrests her it's all done with.

Supposedly he'd have to ask for his citation book back first, in case he didn't see her toss it out of her car when she stole it.

On the way to jail, Taylor apologized, he said.

Well, then, that should make everything okay. Besides, her husband made her do it. And besides, the kid was crying. All of us parents know what affect a crying kid has on our judgement. What else was she supposed to do?

Speeding makes one a committer of an infraction. Eluding justice and stealing a citation book makes one a criminal. The anarcho-headline could well read: "Mom Busted Merely for Driving Kid to School!"

At what point does 16 mph over the speed limit make it worth a 10 minute car chase? With a kid in the car? After you have the license plate of the driver and have gotten a look at her face and can ID her again?

It's kind of presumptuous to think that fear motivated her. I've seen women work true wonders of idiocy simply out of spite. I can picture this lady saying something like this;
'So, you think I should just ditch the curlers and not worry about my nails this morning huh? You think its just Soooo important to get little jimmy to school on time for a change, well I'll show you! Just wait till you see the ticket I get for this!'
