Is it Traveller's birthday, too?
To: Non-Sequitur
Nope - Traveller roamed the Washington-Lee campus for a few years after General Lee died until the loyal horse joined his owner.
To: stainlessbanner
I know who Traveller was. I was just curious why you were wishing it a happy birthday.

I don't know Traveller's birthday, but the General and his horse were often together.

Lee purchased Traveller in South Carolina in late 1861. Traveller was born in 1857 in Greenbriar County, which is now West Virginia. He bought Traveller from a Captain Joseph M. Broun for $200.00 dollars. Traveller was an iron gray horse. Weighing in at 1100 pounds. Traveller out lived Lee and upon his death he was buried next to the Lee Chapel.

Who is R.E.Lee? I've come to view him as the "Last Founding Father", the America he believed in has already passed by.

"Remember, gentlemen, the eyes of the South are upon you Gen. Lee
The Governor of Virginia was asked by General Lee, What will they think of the country? (after the implied surrender).
The Governor replied, My God, General Lee, you are the country to these men.
