GOP PRIMARY PROTEST VOTE
e-mail from Citizens Lobby | 1/18/2004 | Unknown

Posted on 01/19/2004 6:17:00 AM PST by JimRed

If your state is holding a "primary" vote for the Republican candidate for president, Citizens Lobby strongly urges you to cast a "blank" ballot -- OR write in a candidate of your choice.

We recommend Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan or Alan Keyes...

President Bush needs a wake call and your vote is a great way to send him a message.

My point is that we don't do it by conceding the "lesser of two evils" argument. Bush is the most conservative president since Ike and yes I place Reagan in that mix. Reagan was a great president that articulated real conservative values but he compromised more that GW and he didn't fight vigorously for the values he so brilliantly espoused. Those on this forum that are saying Bush does not care about US sovereignty are committing the most vile political slander I have ever seen coming from supposedly "conservative" mouths.

Nice bait. I do want Bush to lose and will work to see him lose. I am voting Libertarian or Constitution party, and want that candidate to win. Do not treat me like Democrats treat blacks. I cannot be blackmailed to voting for the RINO d'jour.

You are joking, right. Reagan would have never signed a CFR or expanded Medicare or support affirmative action or sign Sarbanes-Oaxley. Most importantly, he would have never gone back on his promises. I could have used the word lied but that would get me zotted.

Good. But don't be caustic. I am not giving you hell for voting for Bush. I am presenting my opinions and principles and trying to convert as many people in my direction. I could care less who you vote for. I take it you don't believe in the new tone crap that your candidate espouses.

Vote for who you like but you espouse conservative principles. I suppose for the reason of having them enacted and not abolished. A Democrat OR Republican will be President for the next four years. George Bush has kept us out of the ICC, Kyoto, and several other areas which would have weakened our sovereignty and to claim that this damages it is a stretch. You can BET that (if you are conservative) and you work to see Bush defeated you will be on "some board" complaining every single day till 2009. Sound like something you want to do?

Once President Bush solves the immigration problem, their shtick becomes worthless. Seems they don't want any solutions, they just want to whine.

Not to mention the damage a DEM can do to our court system. The Supremes haven't fallen off like we thought they would -- I doubt they'll last till 2009 though. The country will be in for some serious trouble then.

Have you read Tex's posts?

Are you under the impression he thinks the President's proposal is a good idea?

Yes he did. He both signed the revised campaign law from the 1970’s and enforced it rigorously. Bush would never have lobbied for the Brady bill either. I can go on all night about what Reagan did that Bush has not done. It it is not a flattering portrait of the Gipper. You believe the MYTH of Reagan, I believe the reality of Reagan and I really love the man. Reagan did all he could given the tools he had, Bush has done more than he should have been expected to do given the tools he has.

I question their loyalties to conservative principles when they are willing to allow someone 1000 miles off from the ideals into office just to make a point. There is a time and place for everything. The crusade to move Bush to the right was for 2001, 2002, and 2003 and can be for 2005, 2006, and 2007. Any attempts to drive a wedge in his support now is underestimating the damage a liberal can do.

Yes I would. A Republican Congress can hold the purse string from a Democrat better than it could from a Republican. Bush has actually increased discretionary spending from the Clinton years showing that a Republican Congress cannot really stand up against a Republican President, for reasons that are obvious. BTW, Kyoto was defeated in the Senate 98-0 befor Bush took office. ICC was never put for a vote and would have met the same fate. I don't see any Democrat (at least the top 2-3) who wants the US to join ICC.

Oops. You spoke too soon. FirstPrinciple just came out claiming to want to see President Bush defeated. "I do want Bush to lose and will work to see him lose." He even claimed he'd vote for an open-border-no-INS-no-Border-Patrol Libertarian. Nice support you have there.

What promises has Bush gone back on? I have a copy of what he ran on in 2000 and he's done a pretty bang up job of hitting them -- INCLUDING a worker's program. Yes it was a campaign promise -- did you even know or care to look?

If Reagan had a Republican Congress, we would have never heard of George W Bush.

I am for open borders. But, I am opposed to the Bush plan. I am a conservative, but I don't always toe the party line on everything. It is good to think for oneself, and not just repeat the talking points.
