GOP PRIMARY PROTEST VOTE
e-mail from Citizens Lobby | 1/18/2004 | Unknown

Posted on 01/19/2004 6:17:00 AM PST by JimRed

If your state is holding a "primary" vote for the Republican candidate for president, Citizens Lobby strongly urges you to cast a "blank" ballot -- OR write in a candidate of your choice.

We recommend Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan or Alan Keyes...

President Bush needs a wake call and your vote is a great way to send him a message.

Remember, George W. Bush ran as a conservative

In whose dream world? George W. Bush was one of the least conservative candidates on the GOP ticket in the primaries.

As an example, the "No Child Left Behind" program which was one of the centerpieces of his campaign was guaranteed to increase Federal involvement in education, where the Federal government has no business being involved in the first place.

George W. Bush ran as a moderate and he won (barely) because he ran as a moderate.

Personally, I learned a lesson in 1992, so after fussing and complaining, I held my nose and voted for Bush in 2000. However, he didn't run as a conservative and I didn't expect a conservative. On the whole, I've been pleasantly surprised in some instances, and not too surprised by others that left some people here claiming they "felt betrayed". To me, those people are either disingenuous or delusional, because G.W.B. has, in my opinion, done pretty well what he said he'd do.

I'll work to restore the Constitution and it's weight in our society.

Oh good, by helping fringe unelectables? By helping the next Ross Perot? You sound like the same fools who "punished" Bush41 in 1992 and Dole in 1996. Boy, they really showed us, huh? It sounds to me like you go on raw emotion rather than rational thought. Terry McAuliffe would love to kiss you on the lips for that.

Ya might want to take a look at #197. The Party responded and went right after 92 when Bush became a one-termer, the voters responded in 94. Then the Party headed left again 94 thru 96, offered Dole, and the voters again responded. The Party responded with Bush II in 2000, promising, "He's not his daddy", and again the voters responded.

Bush II is headed left, we'll see if the voters respond.

The voters "come back to dinner" when they are responded to, not when they are ignored, is my point.

The only "Germans bombing Pearl Harbor" moment here is being displayed by the folks who think conservatives will always come back no matter what you do to them.

Spot on..... People didn't listen, follow his tenure as a governor or just had a convenient case of forgetfulness. He is conservative in some of the things but he'll go along to get along in many others....

Hey they don't have but five more years and he's outta there....... they best be building a roadmap to the 2008 Primary and get their candidates lined up, with grassroot orgs in place, money raisers in place, etc. etc. etc. if they want to be a player then. Otherwise the existing Party stucture will swallow them up as if they didn't exist....

Just keep practicing "President Dean." I'm sure you'll love your new "conservative" president you helped elect.

They won't do that because it is more fun and MUCH easier to sit on the sidelines and carp and whine in phony righteousness. Really making an effort and really paying attention to getting the conservative principles back into the American psyche takes work, and they don't want to work, they want magic.

You mean there's more to it than simply writing in the name of a "real conservative" to send a message? /s

Your time might be better spent lobbying Bush to go right, instead of lobbying me to go left.

You want to threaten me with Dean?

Right back at ya.

Yup, it's the same threat Ralph Nader gave to the Dems--along with the "it's not my fault" to the Dems when Bush was elected. At least be original.

You don't remember 95 do you.

The R party ran on the right in 94 while the Clinton slime machine remained strangely quiet. The R party then had their heads handed to them in 95 by the counter punching global, leftist Clinton slime machine.By the time 95 was over, the contract with America was considered dangerous and unfeeling by many "centrist" Americans.

That's history -- how soon we forget.

It was the centrists who helped out in 94 and it was the centrists who were scared off like little sheep in 95. And with the R congress of 95 loosing support, why should the R politicians care about future small government?

GW Bush and his compassionate conservatism is a direct result of the pounding conservative politicians took in 95.

Well I guess that depends upon what they want..... To bitch and moan or to be effective and win......

Holiday today I see..... I forgot it was and went to the bank to transfer some money to help finance/support the CA schools and that's when it became apparent to me... lol.

You'd better hurry. You don't have much time. If you don't get Bush to go right, it'll be YOUR fault we have President Dean.

I'm voting for GWB. He has his faults, but his excellence on national security makes him deserving of our support.

Weren't there gains in both the House and Senate in 96?

And either way, whether you help elect President Dean, or I help elect President Bush, you'll still have your greasy nose pressed to the glass, on the outside looking in.

So you admit that if Bush is elected, conservatives will have their "greasy noses pressed to the glass, on the outside looking in"???? And you want my vote?
