"I don't think we as citizens have to be as subdued in our critisim of our elected officials as a high-ranking senator from the president's party."

NO we don't. But do you really want to do it on a public message board, read by anyone, to the great delight of the Democrats?

LOL I'm talking about State TAXES in NEVADA! As for the fed tax cut, the state taxes more than ate the savings.

Since you've now admitted that you're talking about STATE taxes, stop beratting President Bush over a STATE'S RIGHT ISSUE, which IS what state taxes are.

Ronald Reagan on immigration... (Reagan radio commentary, Nov. 29, 1977)
How many million Illegals were in the country 27 years ago? Did the Reagan Amnesty of 2.7 million Illegals in 1986 solve the problem, as he'd hoped? Seems to me, the answer is "no," since we're still talking about the Illegal Alien problem, and it's worse than ever, at 8 to 12 million Illegals and counting. I supported the Reagan Amnesty, and I was wrong. I've learned from the mistake. Do you think that President Reagan wouldn't have learned from it, also?

Hey..........
I don't suffer fools lightly, dear, but you are too funny to ignore. LOL
And since YOU don't own FR, write the rules here, and go running off to LP, to erroneously boast about how you're whipping us, over here, maybe you should just stay over on that site permanently. That way, you wouldn't have to fear me and others replying to your inane, banal, hysterical ( in both senses ) posts.

I suggest you and others reread Bush's speech -- he didn't say that guest worker program will lead to citizenship, nor does he intend that.
Text of Bush immigration speech
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36498 Third, we should not give unfair rewards to illegal immigrants in the citizenship process or disadvantage those who came here lawfully or hope to do so.
Fourth, new laws should provide incentives for temporary foreign workers to return permanently to their home countries after their period of work in the United States has expired.
All who participate in the temporary worker program must have a job or, if not living in the United States, a job offer. The legal status granted by this program will last three years and will be renewable, but it will have an end. Participants who do not remain employed, who do not follow the rules of the program or who break a law will not be eligible for continued participation and will be required to return to their home.
This program expects temporary workers to return permanently to their home countries after their period of work in the United States has expired, and there should be financial incentives for them to do so.
Some temporary workers will make the decision to pursue American citizenship. Those who make this choice will be allowed to apply in the normal way. They will not be given unfair advantage over people who have followed legal procedures from the start.
I opposed amnesty, placing undocumented workers on the automatic path to citizenship. Granting amnesty encourages the violation of our laws and perpetuates illegal immigration.
America's a welcoming country, but citizenship must not be the automatic reward for violating the laws of America.
===
And Bush also spoke about securing out borders.
"We have significantly expanded the Border Patrol with more than 1,000 new agents on the borders and 40 percent greater funding over the last two years. We're working closely with the Canadian and Mexican governments to increase border security.
America is acting on a basic belief: Our borders should be open to legal travel and honest trade; our borders should be shut and barred tight to criminals, to drug traders, drug traffickers and to criminals and to terrorists."

As President Bush's Illegal Alien policies are quite similar to those of the Democrats, much to their delight, and outright relief, in contrast to the Illegal Alien opinions held by most Americans, I'm not sure it's sporting to try and truncate debate about and criticism of President Bush on the basis of what the Democrats might see or think.

Facts...facts, you expect the naysayers to actually deal with the FACTS ? LOL

LOL I'm talking about State TAXES in NEVADAYou said your taxes doubled. Nevada has no State tax. The sales tax is and has been 6.5%, by law counties can levy up too 7.25% in special circumstances. If you smoke you could say your taxes have doubled, but that is a question of choice.
To: woodyinscc
She lies, she flat out LIES and then backtracks and THEN has the gall to tell you and me that she won't ever reply to us again and that we must NEVER reply to her posts. LOL
First she claikmed that her taxes doubled. Then, after heat over that, she claims it's her state taxes, and now, NOW, you've kicked over that lie with yet another fact! Good for YOU! :-)
To: FairOpinion; Spiff
Fair enough, fair opinion.
If the president is straight up about this and genuinely holds the highest concerns for this country, would it be asking too much of him to answer just a few more questions lingering in the air.
The migrant invasion is nowhere more pronounced than in Cochise County, Arizona - a flood portal with as many as 1,000 migrants pouring into the U.S. every single day.
Could the President just focus on these few questions . .
President George Bush - stand before the people of this nation and tell us Cochise County is the sovereign territory of the United States of America and is not under foreign invasion.
President George Bush - stand before the people of this nation and tell us you are using all means within your power to ensure Cochise County is free from illegal migrant invasion.
President George Bush - stand before the people of this nation and tell us the national, social, political, and economic interests of this nation come before any other nation, including Canada and Mexico. And including special interest groups who under the table continue to sponsor illegal immigration by hiring illegal migrants.
President George Bush - stand before the people of this nation and tell us we mean more to you than the migrant invasion coming across our borders.
President George Bush - stand before the people of this nation and tell us the truth.
Nothing but the truth.

I've read it; he said that legalized-Illegals would be eligible for citizenship. From your link (actually, right from your post)... Text of Bush immigration speech President outlines plan to give illegals legal status
"Automatic" is the operative weasel word. "Unfair" advantage is another. The Bush Amnesty (for that's what it is, despite what he calls it) makes Illegals eligible for citizenship, plain as day.

She calls this attacking her.! When I first registered here, I found out real quick you had better have facts in hand. It is one reason this place is really good to know what is really happening, in the political landscape.

"President George Bush - stand before the people of this nation and tell us the truth. "

Your tone is accusatory and is practically accuses Bush of lying -- more proof that your only concern is to attack Bush. This is the type of stuff one finds at DU. Is that were you copied your accusations from?
To: woodyinscc
Facts matter, emotion and delusions just don't cut it. Neither do all of these cockabolly alternative solutions, made up by people who have
ZERO power,
NO influence,and
LESS understanding of what this government can and can
NOT do.
The ones who make demands, give orders, post NO facts, and then fly off to some ANTI-FR site to crow, are the least credible of all.
