Well, rather than make an angry propaganda film, the typical reaction of liberal feminists, there would seem to be two more practical solutions:

a) Learn to do character acting, like the great actresses of the past.

b) Put up their own money and make films with older women in them. If they are right in thinking there is a market for such films, well and good. Most of these people have been paid millions for their work in the movies, and could well afford to get together and start their own business if they are so confident it would work.

...condemn "sexist" film moguls for failing to find roles for women over 40

Dame Judi Dench might disagree!

Their whole premise is anti market. They wan tmovies made by political fiat. And ot be paid as they used to be paid when they were marketable as attractive females. Ha! If they were in the real world, they would have picked up some common sense as to how the world works along the way----not some fantasy of command moralism.

Maybe there is a hint here as to the solution as to why the media types are so mostly left wing socialists. That is, they are unrealistic as to theur real value--much less than the superfiical appearance and smoothness they capitalize upon, and they get deceived into thinling that all merit is so mercurial and unrelated to real value. hence, they refuse to take seriously the value adn worth of any other types of people.

"Learn to do character acting, like the great actresses of the past...."

There are character roles for these actresses if they are interested in pursuing them. The complaint seems to be that thay are no longer treated and paid as they had been when they were able to land leading lady-type roles.

I personally have seen Charlotte Rampling in about 10 movies in the last 6 years. In most of these movies she had a good part. Given the fact that the once allluring Ms. Rampling now looks like death warmed over is testament to the fact that if you have good acting skills you can still continue to get work after 40. That these older actresses will not be cast in roles that require sexual allure should surprise no one.
