Dr. Judith Steinberg is joining the campaign. In the immortal words of Chris Farley, "LA DE FRICKIN' DA!"

Well, more power to her. If Howard Brush Dean III, child of privilege, Birkenstock doc, and beneficiary of some $3.8 million in trust funds, equities and financial instruments, is out havng his mid-life crisis, she owes it to the stability of her marriage to be close enough to keep an eye on him.

All this campaign was a response to Dean's male climacteric, you know. He has not brought much else to the table.

Besides, Dean may require medical attention while traveling back to Vermont, because of the mental and physical collapse that goes along with ending up in third place in the Iowa caucus, and the resulting aneurysm.

She looks fine. Twinset, pearls, clean shiny hair, straight white teeth. I don't have a problem with her at all.

I don't care for her husband at all.

so that she can't make any faux pas?

You mean, like attempting to bake cookies that only a pathologist could love?

Along the lines of your final sentance above, maybe Mrs. Dean was flown in to "de-stress" Howard.

She is from Vermont. She does not need anyone to carry her scarf and mittens. Give the woman a break. She is a medical doctor and is not a politician. I admire her for keeping her profession and soul away from the jackles ready to slit her open for any reason. She is there to support her husband at the end of along campaign. Good for her. Vote for Bush Cheney.

Yeah, I really rolled my eyes at this: "She will not remain in Iowa to campaign with him on Monday because she has patients she is scheduled to see in her medical practice, a Dean campaign official told United Press International."

Imagine Jan 20, 2005:
"Sorry Hon', I cant come to the inauguration, I have a few patients to see, and then some college friends are coming for lunch, and then I've got an appointment to get the car tuned up, and then picking up the dry cleaning, and ... oh, I'm sure there something else I've got scheduled that day.
... "

She looks like she might be a nice person, actually.
I agree. However, Mad Howie always looks to me like he has a few loose screws.

Using that logic, we should admire Hilliary Clinton, too.

These people show how crazy they are - not wearing winter coats during this arctic blast just in from Canada, just so they can look "cool" in their sweaters - good grief. Either that or there are not enough campaign helpers to grab their coats at the door, fer pete's sake?!!!!!!!

I think they are a refreshing change from the phony-baloney cutout couples that typify pols and their spouses.

Not to defend the Deans on anything else, but it looked like a bright sunny day in that photo. If there's no wind and the sun is strong (and you've got your long johns on) it's quite common to go outdoors for short periods dressed like this in Vermont and probably in Iowa

I agree with you. By every acccount Judy Steinberg Dean is a sweet, nice person, a dedicated doctor, and a good human being.

I also am certain she does more honest work in one day than the eight remaining dwarfs do in a month, combined.

Well, Tom Harkin can't do it all on his own. I see she's got the perpetual angered smile thing going on there too.
