If Bush is going to pander he should at least pander to the voting block traditionally targeted for pandering -- the political center. But it just so happens that the majority of the center is adamantly opposed to rewarding illegal alien crimminals, just as conservatives are. Very bad strategy, and he may get badly burned because of it.
But then again this could just be a return favor in a bargain rather than solely about votes -- Companies desiring cheap, illegal labor stuff the campaign coffers of both the GOP and the 'Rats and in return get this amnesty bone.

Bush's immmigration plan is a stroke of genius. Too bad the majority of FReepers here are too ignorant to understand this and resort to the usual "I'm taking my ball home and voting 3rd party candidate."
It is logistically impossible to round up 10 million illegals and deport them. The manpower, the costs, and the infrastructure involved just isn't there.
