The International Criminal Court (ICC) is currently the first and only treaty based institution that can try various individuals for such crimes as genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The creation of the ICC presents a special opportunity to bring to light the various crimes the Islamic Republic of Iran has committed against humanity. On January 8th, 2004 the executive of the Marze Por Gohar Party, Roozbeh Farahanipour hand delivered a letter to the president of ICC, Phillip Kirche.

Below you will find the contents of the letter that was delivered to the ICC president. Via Hand Delivery

Attention: The Honorable Phillipe Kriche President, International Criminal Court C/O WFM 777 UN Plaza New York, NY 10017

In Re: Opening a Case against the Islamic Republic of Iran

Dear Judge Kriche:

My name is Roozbeh Farahanipour and I am the executive director of the Marze Por Gohar Party.

Our members and our legal team members have researched, documented and archived actions that constitute a crime under the mandate of the International Criminal Court.

I wish to be granted an audience with you to present what will constitute a prima facie case against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its officials. It is hoped that the Court will then proceed with the case.

I look forward to hearing from you soon on this very grave matter.

Very Sincerely Yours,

Long Live IRAN Roozbeh Farahanipour Executive Director of Marze Por Gohar Party Iranians for a secular republic 01/08/2004 www.marzeporgohar.org

What is the meaning of the name of the name, "Marze Por Gohar"? Sorry, not enough Farsi here. And what is the political stance of this party?

Marze Por Gohar roughly translates to "borders full of riches". It's a phrase that's in the real national Iranian anthem called "ey Iran".

In regards to our political stance, we want to establish a secular republic. What's different about MPG is the fact that 1) our members are all young people. 2) MPG was one of the two main opposition orginizations leading the student uprising in 1999. 3) We openly declare that the only way to reach our goal of a secular republic is a new revolution. 4) We view "reforms" and "referandums" as non-viable options because they simply can't be implemented.

I hope that explained a bit about MPG, you may also visit our site @ marzeporgohar.org for more information.
